Reflections is a National PTA cultural arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas; develop artistic literacy; increase confidence and creativity; develop critical thinking and problem solving skills; and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.
Students in pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for the 2023-2024 program year is “I am Hopeful Because…” Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.
While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity and the arts, student artists receive positive recognition at their schools, and finalists move on to their council/region for review and recognition. Finalists then advance to Oklahoma State PTA, where Award of Excellence winners then advance to the National PTA round for judging.
Your unit MUST be in Good Standing to be able to participate in any National PTA program, including Reflections. To check requirements for Good Standing please see Forms (okpta.org)
The Reflections program is open to all Oklahoma students who meet the necessary requirements below:
Schools Supported by a Local PTA/PTSA:
Home-School Families, Virtual Schools, and Non-PTA Schools:
Students who attend a school that is not supported by a Local PTA/PTSA may participate through the All Oklahoma PTA, if the student or at least one person of their primary household is a member of this PTA no later than October 31. Join All Oklahoma PTA and how you can join!
Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category are NOT permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by National PTA.
